From a Sydney Lounge Room to Australia's #1 Gaming Hub

MatrixForges started in 2019 when a small group of Sydney-based gamers and writers decided they were tired of reading reviews that felt disconnected from the Australian gaming experience. Latency, local server availability, regional pricing — these things matter to us, and they should matter to every reviewer.

What began as a passion project quickly grew into one of Australia's most-read gaming publications, with a dedicated team of writers, editors, and esports analysts covering everything from major AAA releases to the grassroots tournament scene.

Today, MatrixForges reaches over 50,000 monthly readers across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, and we remain committed to the same values that drove us from day one: honesty, depth, and a genuine love of gaming.

2019

MatrixForges Founded

James Hartley and Sarah Chen launch MatrixForges from a Sydney apartment, publishing their first five game reviews and attracting 500 readers in the first month.

2020

Esports Coverage Begins

Marcus Webb joins the team and MatrixForges expands into esports tournament coverage, reporting on the first ANZ online championships during the pandemic era.
